Transit City megaproject at TTC hub will be nexus of Vaughan’s growth
Transit City, a joint venture between SmartCentres billionaire Mitchell Goldhar, SmartREIT and CentreCourt Developments, will build a 55-storey condominium – the tallest building in York Region – “zero minutes” from the TTC’s new stop at the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre.
This isn’t an ordinary development. The space the developers are working with is equivalent Toronto’s downtown core between Wellington Street and Adelaide Street and from Jarvis Street to University Avenue.
Ambitious development aims to give Vaughan downtown credibility
A 55-storey, residential tower that will be one of the tallest landmark on Vaughan’s emerging skyline, is being touted for bringing a distinctly urban vibe to that city’s ambitious downtown plans.
CentreCourt Developments’ Transit City condos will be the first residential building in SmartREIT’s 100-acre Vaughan Metropolitan Centre development called SmartCentres Place.
One of the biggest mixed commercial-residential projects in Canada, the master-planned community is bounded by Hwy. 400 on the west, Jane St. to the east, Portage Pkwy. on the north and Hwy. 7 to the south.
Let’s look at Transit City Condos for instance, one of the largest condo development projects in North America. This 55-storey high-rise building will be interconnected with countless amenities, parks, community centers and most importantly transit. With a single unified owner of the site, the master planned 100-acre project will address all important aspects of a comfortable and mobile lifestyle.
This profound concept we now see replicated and endorsed by municipal and federal bodies, working to grow the downtown areas of Toronto’s prominent suburbs. This as a result transforms the entire area to be self-sustaining and increases economic contribution.
